One swab — three tests: a rapid test for COVID and influenza A and B viruses has been registered in Russia

The TestGene company has registered a new generation of test systems for detection of respiratory infections. The first-generation rapid test for qualitative detection of SARS-CoV-2 antigens was released in 2021 and has successfully entered the clinical practice of medical institutions in Russia

The new rapid test "GT CoV-Influ antigen test" makes it possible to simultaneously detect not only the SARS-CoV-2 virus in humans but also influenza A and B viruses. The development has successfully passed clinical trials. The first deliveries to clinics and laboratories are scheduled for August 2022.

The rapid test is carried out by the method of lateral flow test (LFT), which makes it possible to detect dangerous respiratory viruses already in the early stages of the disease by one oropharyngual/nasopharyngual swab. The rapid test has high sensitivity and specificity, making it a fast alternative to PCR testing.

Rapid testing can be used as part of screening examinations of patients with symptoms of a respiratory disease to differentiate coronavirus infection and influenza viruses from ordinary acute respiratory viral infections and acute respiratory infections.
