Isometric loop amplification (LAMP)
Molecular genetic studies based on loop isometric amplification are becoming increasingly common in clinical practice.
The LAMP method allows you to conduct the same diagnostic testing as using PCR, but faster, more specific, it does not require expensive instrumentation and qualified personnel.
- LAMP-based amplification, unlike PCR, occurs at a constant temperature without a thermal cycling step, which makes it possible to replace the amplifier with a conventional thermostat. This makes the test more accessible, including when the diagnostics is conducted in limited resources conditions.
- During the LAMP reaction, reverse transcription occurs at the same temperature as amplification.
- LAMP is not affected by the presence of biological components. The sample can be added to the reaction mixture without purification.
TestGen has developed and successfully launched a high-precision diagnostic kit for SARS-CoV-2. The result is available within 25 minutes, and its assessment with the naked eye using colorimetric detection significantly increases the operating capacity of laboratories. The kit includes an ICS. It is possible to directly introduce the transport medium with a respiratory swab into the reaction mixture without isolating nucleic acids.
The LAMP method holds great promise as a tool for detecting nucleic acids. The company is developing several more kits based on the LAMP technology.
